I really love Bangkok, my treasured capital and hometown. I’m never disappointed in the City of Angels; she never lets me down and is always ready to spring a surprise on me at every corner. From tasty street food and quirky fashion to cool cafes and refreshing parks and gardens, Bangkok really does have it all.

 

So, I was in seventh heaven when I was confirmed on a training course with the Samaritans of Thailand as it was my chance to give something back to society that’s given me everything. Now all I needed was a downtown hotel that suited my needs: centrally located, availability and stylish guest rooms. Step forward Vīb (pronounced “vibe”) Best Western Sanam Pao, Bangkok, the first such property from Best Western in the Asia Pacific region.

 

 

Just metres from Sanam Pao Skytrain station and a comfortable walk to vibrant Victory Monument, Vīb Best Western Sanam Pao, is a midscale city-centre hotel that was perfectly tailored from my two-day stay. I had all the in-room mod-cons available to me, while the open communal lobby and café were perfect for my informal meetings as well as getting to know other guests whose preferences were similar to mine.

 

Today’s travellers thrive on being connected at all times and Vīb Best Western Sanam Pao doesn’t let guests down. First, the Skytrain is on your doorstep, which provides access to virtually all Bangkok. Second, Vīb’s Wifi connectivity is free, super fast and available throughout the hotel, and third I love being able to connect with people from countries and walks of life. With a total of 91 contemporary guest rooms, the hotel never seems overly crowded or sadly desolate. Checking in was a breeze and finding all types of information is at the end of your fingertip thanks to the e-concierge technology. I was able to grab a quick bite to eat at the café before setting out in the morning and on my return in the evening I was happy to have a workout in the ground floor gym before heading to my room to unwind.

 

 

All in all, Vīb Best Western Sanam Pao exceeded my expectations and I would gladly recommend it to anyone seeking a centrally located hotel that won’t squeeze your budgets too much but will live up to your value for money. After a hard day’s work, it was nice to relax in a functional room, watch a little television and enjoy a good night’s sleep in a bed that was extraordinarily comfortable. As a business hotel there are just a few limitations such as no parking facilities and no swimming pool, but these are far-outweighed by the hotel’s positioning next to the Skytrain and the in-room facilities.
