Scuba Charters in Thailand

Just off Krabi’s west coast lay the Ao Nang Islands, home to a number of different rocky outcrops with several spectacular dive sites to choose from. Visibility varies between 5-10 metres and sites are known for incredible sea life including seahorses, nudibranchs, cleaning stations, schools of snappers, barracudas and often Kuhl’s stingray are waiting in the sand. For the more experienced scuba divers, there are some amazing swim-throughs and tunnels as well as the odd wreck here and there. With most reefs and dive sites not exceeding a depth of 22 metres, Ao Nang Islands are a great place for all dive levels and are open all year round.

 

 

The Bida Islands are the two southernmost islands of Phi Phi and are as beautiful and famous as their rival, the Similan Islands. Visibility is usually great and the stunning view of the majestic limestone rocks plunging into the clear water is an experience in itself. Here, divers will find shallow reefs, dramatic walls and pinnacles and coral fields with more life than you can imagine – sometimes it is even possible to encounter leopard sharks. The best time to visit Bida Islands is from November to May.

 

Koh Haa Yai is part of the Lanta Marine National Park and is one of the most amazing spots for diving. This destination offers stunning visibility 25 metres or more and rates as great as the Similan Islands. Visitors aboard the Blue Moon will have the chance to see a lot of different species including turtles, squid, sea snakes and much more. The Phi Phi Islands Marine Park is home to coral gardens, dramatic wall dives, beautiful bays and a rich underwater life. There is a Bt600 Phi Phi Islands Marine Park fee for all visitors.

 

 

One site well worth a visit is the Kled Gaeow wreck, a 47-metre long ship that was sunk on purpose to create a new dive site around the Phi Phi islands. Previously the Kled Gaeow functioned as an auxiliary vessel – a transport support and stores ship designation AKS 861 – but now it rests peacefully at 29 metres and has become home to many different corals and fish.

 

 

Shark Point Area is for advanced divers only and includes the King Cruiser wreck, a car ferry that sank after striking Anemone Reef. It now rests peacefully at 32 metres and is home to a wide variety of sea life and coral. Divers can also enjoy the nearby Anemone Reef, which gets its name from all the Anemones that cover this pinnacle. The reef starts at 5 metres and the maximum depth is approximately 25 metres. The last stop on this dive is Shark Point, where only one of the three pinnacles breaks the surface and where the beacon is located. Under the surface divers will find diversity in corals and fish like no other site in this area.
