Havana Social Guest Shift

Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok raises a glass to rum this July as Bar.Yard hosts the Havana Social Guest Shift to mark World Rum Day, welcoming Bangkok’s beloved pre-revolutionary cocktail institution, Havana Social, to the 40th floor for an evening that travels back in time.

 

From 8pm onwards, Bar.Yard becomes a stage for Songmueang “Bew” Khanthano, Head Bartender at Havana Social, as he presents signature cocktails from their menu. Sponsor spirits are provided by Havana Club, Pernod Ricard, the rum that has shaped Cuban cocktail culture for generations.

 

Born from the spirit of 1940s pre-revolutionary Havana, when the Cuban capital was the Las Vegas of the Caribbean and legendary figures like Marlon Brando, Ernest Hemingway, Rita Hayworth, and J.F.K., were regulars at its pleasure domes, Havana Social recreates that electric era in the heart of Bangkok.

 

Havana Social’s cocktails are built on exotic aromas from pre-revolutionary recipes combined with authentic post-revolutionary techniques: a deeply intoxicating fusion of creative mixology and old Cuban décor. As Head Bartender of Havana Social, Songmueang “Bew” Khanthano is the keeper of the bar’s cocktail philosophy: rooted in Cuban tradition, alive to modern craft. His approach to rum is both reverential and inventive, honouring the spirit’s heritage while finding new expressions in every glass.

 

For World Rum Day, guests can explore four signature cocktails from Havana Social, each priced at Bt440. Highlights include the Bangkok Libre, a sophisticated take on Cuba’s most iconic serve with Havana Club Selección de Maestros, kaffir lime-coke reduction, and turmeric honey; the tropical Havana Coco with coconut water and Giffard Noix de Coco; The Cuban Daiquiri, a rich and velvety interpretation featuring Havana Club 7 Años, Luxardo Maraschino, and pomegranate-lime juice; and Salak Birdy, a vibrant tropical creation combining rum, salak, guava, grapefruit cordial, and pimento dram.

 

The Havana Social Guest Shift will take place on Saturday, 11th July, from 8pm until late at Bar.Yard, 40th floor, Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok.
