Balcony Lounge at InterContinental Bangkok introduces “The Amazonian Tropic Noir – 1946” afternoon tea, inspired by the opening of the first InterContinental hotel in Belém, Brazil. Launching from 5th June, the concept draws on the richness of the Amazon, Brazil-origin cacao, and the timeless elegance of grand hotel traditions, marking the brand’s 80th anniversary with a more tropical, character-driven take on afternoon tea.
The set brings together a mix of savoury and sweet elements rooted in Brazilian flavours. On the savoury side, guests can expect Pão de Queijo cheese bread with Parma ham, Brazilian Coxinha filled with shredded chicken, a leek and bacon quiche, and Torta de Bacalhau, a classic salted cod tart. The scones follow the same direction, with lime paired with pineapple spiced and orange jam for a distinctive twist.

A host of delicious confections encompass delights such as an Amazon Gold Tart, combining Brazil-origin chocolate with passion fruit and mango, and the Grand Belém Chocolate Layer Cake – 1946 with rum caramel, Brazil nuts, and coffee. A chocolate cigar with coffee praline and hints of rum round out the selection, keeping the focus on the region’s key ingredients without over-complicating the presentation.
The experience is complemented by a choice of premium coffee or tea, including the signature Tropical Noir Coffee and Brazilian Black Tea, enhancing the journey with distinctive flavours inspired by the region.

The Amazonian Tropic Noir – 1946 afternoon tea will be available at Balcony Lounge from 5th June – 31st August, 2.30pm – 5.30pm. The experience is priced Bt1,100++ per set for one person or Bt1,990++ per set for two persons.
