Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town is inviting its hotel guests and local residents to sample the flavours of Penang this July and August with an exclusive culinary collaboration that will see two talented chefs from Courtyard by Marriott Penang craft a series of highly authentic delicacies from this evocative Malaysian island for breakfast, lunch and dinner at Krua Talad Yai, the vibrant all-day restaurant.

 

The Taste of Penang promotion will run from 30th June – 31st August, with a series of immersive activities and experiences including special menus, interactions with chefs, a dedicated breakfast corner and more, so that all diners can discover the unique flavours and fragrances of Penang, the Pearl of the Orient.

Every morning from 6.30am – 10.30am, Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town’s popular buffet breakfast will be enhanced with a Special Malaysian Corner featuring a rotating selection of classic Malaysian recipes, such as nasi lemak, beef rendang, roti canai, Penang curry mee and more. Three different breakfast items will be available each day, so diners have the opportunity to enjoy plenty of different dishes.

 

Guests can also enjoy a series of exciting à la carte creations as part of Krua Talad Yai’s enticing lunch and dinner menus (noon – 10pm). Four Malaysian Comfort Food favourites will be available throughout the entire promotional period, including an enticing appetiser of tau hu sumbat (stuffed & fried bean curd with fresh vegetables and peanut sauce), two mouthwatering main courses, udang harimau lemak cili api (tiger prawns in a spicy & aromatic turmeric coconut cream sauce with pickled pineapple, salted egg and steamed rice) and daging rendang utara (beef tenderloin in coconut stew with roasted coconut and steamed rice) and one delectable dessert, sago gula kabung (compressed sago pearls with coconut cream and palm sugar).

Then in the evening, diners can come together for the hotel’s signature weekend Market Place Buffet – including a selection of Penang Delights. Every Friday and Saturday from 5th July – 31st August, guests can savour pasembur pulau mutiara (seafood fritter with deep-fried bean curd, boiled egg, potato and shredded vegetables with a sweet potato sauce), Penang wok-hei koay teow (wok-fried flat rice noodles with seafood, beansprouts, local chives and duck egg, with the chef’s special sauce), Assam laksa (hot, spicy & sour broth with rice noodles and fresh vegetables), satay (marinated beef and chicken skewers with rice, cucumber, onion and peanut sauce) and lantong johor (compressed rice cake with sambal).

From 30th June – 7th July, two of Courtyard by Marriott Penang’s culinary masters – Chef Shazrin, Senior Chef de Partie and Chef Loon, Chef de Cuisine – will be on hand to cook these traditional dishes to order, meet diners and provide a unique insight into Penang’s rich gastronomic heritage.

 

The Taste of Penang collaboration will run from 30th June – 31st August. The Special Malaysian Corner will form part of Krua Talad Yai’s regular buffet breakfast from 30th June – 31 August, while the Malaysian Comfort Food à la carte dishes are available for lunch and dinner from 30th June – 31st August, priced from Bt320 net per dish. Finally, the Penang Delights will be available as part of the Market Place Buffet from 5th July – 31st August, priced at Bt1,250 net per person.
