It’s a wonderful time of the year; the temperatures are dropping, the holidays are just around the corner and no doubt your festive shopping spree is just beginning. So, after a tough day at the office or a lengthy stroll through Bangkok’s exclusive shopping malls, what better way to take the weight off your feet and relax in blissful comfort than a therapeutic massage to liberate your power.
Kempinski The Spa at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok is a haven of peace and tranquility that welcomes guests in its inimitable style. The calming ambience starts to relieve stress and tension no sooner than you take a seat in the beautiful lounge. I find it is the perfect place to disconnect from the outside world, reconnect with my inner self in luxuriously surroundings. As I’ve matured in life, I have begun to let go of the superficial and learned to love the simple things. Keeping everything in balance, yet with a touch of style, is a mantra I live by.

If you are in need of a sensational spa treatment that been meticulously designed to address your individual requirements, then the Seasonal Massage menu is what you’ve been looking for. Based on the four climatic seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter, each spa season is the perfect tonic to resynchronise your mental and physical self. There’s no doubting that 2021 has been a tough year, one that’s going to be hard to forget, so we all need a little boost.
With this in mind, I opted for the 90 minute Autumn treatment as it is suitable for people who are dealing with stress, exhaustion and, in my case bouts of insomnia. Talking to my therapist, she informed me the treatment would help increase flexibility of my joints, release tension deep in my muscles and leave me feeling rejuvenated. To begin with, she would slowly massage my head, neck and shoulders to introduce a state of calm before focusing firm pressure along my back, thighs and down to my weary feet.
The treatment rooms at Kempinski The Spa are beautifully decorated and give a sense of coziness, which when combined with relaxing music, ambient lighting and temperature, create an ideal atmosphere. As my therapist warmed the essential lavender oil in her hands, the room filled with a wonderful fragrance and it was time to allow myself to begin this holistic journey. An important point to remember is always be honest with your therapist so she can be precise in formatting the most appropriate treatment for you.

Lying face down, as soon as I felt her hands caressing my head, neck and shoulders, a smile suddenly spread across my face; it was a joyful expression as I immediately knew I was in good hands. Embracing the enjoyable feeling, it seemed like every sensation was a pure art form. In my head, I pictured my therapist using my body as a canvas as she created art on every area of my body. As she proceeded to massage away my aches and pains, she informed me the technique was based on Swedish massage, and she gently applied more pressure to the areas we’d discussed with care and confidence.
Throughout the entire 90 minutes, I was immersed in a state of relaxation which radiated from head to toe. The firm, soothing rhythms of her hands created a feeling of being alive and I was grateful for the sense of serenity this experience gave me. Across many cultures and thousands of years, the art of massage, acupressure and reflexology has coalesced into the hands of a fortunate few. I was amazingly fortunate to have met one of these masters of her art form.

After my massage, as I sipped on a delightful cup of ginger tea, I learned that all therapists at Kempinski The Spa have been trained by an experienced consultant from Resense Spa, one of the best spas in the world. Therefore, each therapist is supremely skilled and able to customise treatments to ensure you receive the maximum benefit if you are honest and open about what’s troubling you. In my case, the end result far exceeded my expectations. Let that happen to you too.
Kempinski The Spa is located on the 8th floor of the Garden Wing at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok and is open daily from 11am – 9pm. The 90-minute Seasonal Massage is priced at Bt3,950++ per person.
