One of Europe’s last truly untouched destinations, Montenegro is defined by dramatic mountains, ancient forests, and pristine lakes, set against a sun-drenched coastline of quiet coves and clear turquoise waters. This spring Montenegro’s coastal legend returns with the highly anticipated reopening of Aman Sveti Stefan, as the mainland retreat, Villa Miločer, alongside the Aman Spa, Queen’s Beach and King’s Beach, followed by the storied island of Sveti Stefan on 1st July.
Set along Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, southwest of the capital Podgorica, Aman Sveti Stefan occupies a privileged position within easy reach of the historic town of Budva and the breathtaking Bay of Kotor. From here, guests are perfectly placed to explore UNESCO-listed heritage sites, discover authentic cultural experiences, and immerse themselves in one of Europe’s most naturally striking landscapes.

Renowned for its intuitive service and serene sense of seclusion, the resort once again offers a dual experience: the tranquillity of Villa Miločer and the distinctive character of the fortified island village of Sveti Stefan. Throughout the season, Aman will also host a programme of guided tours for outside guests, offering rare access to one of the Adriatic’s most iconic landmarks.
Villa Miločer, set among olive groves and framed by pine forests, was once the summer residence of Queen Marija Karađorđević. The 19th-century villa enjoys an enviable position overlooking the Adriatic, combining historic grandeur with a deeply residential feel. Inside, eight elegantly appointed suites are complemented by a light-filled living room and a well-stocked library, offering spaces for both relaxation and quiet reflection. At its heart, the dining room and wisteria-draped terrace create a natural gathering point, where meals are enjoyed just steps from the sea.

Across the narrow isthmus, the island of Sveti Stefan retains its centuries-old charm. Its cobbled streets, stone cottages, and red-roofed buildings have been carefully restored using traditional materials such as local stone, oak, and hand-rendered stucco. While the island preserves the character of a historic village, its interiors have been refined to offer contemporary comfort and sweeping sea views. With its reopening in July, guests will once again be able to experience this unique setting, where medieval architecture meets Aman’s signature sense of peace and privacy.
Well-being remains central to the experience at Aman Sveti Stefan. The Aman Spa, located in the secluded bay of Queen’s Beach, draws on the property’s long-standing connection to restoration and retreat. Housed in a standalone building that reflects the architecture of the former royal residence, the spa overlooks the Adriatic and offers a tranquil setting for relaxation.

Spanning nearly 2,500 square metres, the spa features four double treatment rooms, each with its own private dressing area and bathroom, alongside hydrotherapy facilities including steam rooms, saunas, and cold-plunge pools. Treatments incorporate Aman Skincare products and locally sourced Montenegrin herbs and flowers, designed to restore balance and reconnect mind and body. For those seeking a more active approach, the fitness centre is equipped with Technogym facilities and complemented by a striking 24-metre indoor-outdoor pool.
Just moments from the resort, three distinct beaches offer direct access to the Adriatic. Queen’s Beach, reserved exclusively for Aman guests, curves around a sheltered bay and is widely considered one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Montenegro. Below the villa, King’s Beach offers a scenic expanse of pink sand, while Sveti Stefan Beach extends along both sides of the isthmus, welcoming both hotel guests and visitors to enjoy its relaxed seaside atmosphere.

Beyond the resort, Montenegro offers a wealth of cultural and natural experiences. The ancient streets of Budva Old Town, dating back more than 2,500 years, invite exploration, while the UNESCO-listed town of Kotor reveals a rich history through its Baroque architecture and winding coastal lanes. For a deeper connection to nature, Lake Skadar provides a striking contrast to the coastline. As the largest lake in southern Europe, it is home to diverse wildlife, including the Dalmatian pelican, and is best explored by boat, with opportunities for swimming, picnicking, and quiet reflection among its dramatic surroundings.

Dining at Aman Sveti Stefan reflects the spirit of the Adriatic, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and regional flavours. Several venues offer distinct experiences, each framed by exceptional views. Arva, the resort’s Italian restaurant, draws on the traditions of cucina del raccolto, celebrating fresh, locally sourced produce in dishes designed for sharing. In the heart of the island, Piazza provides a relaxed setting for light meals throughout the day, while the Cliff Bar, perched above the sea, offers one of the most atmospheric spots on the coast for sunset drinks and simple fare.
With its long-awaited reopening, Aman Sveti Stefan begins a new chapter while remaining deeply rooted in its past. Combining historic significance with contemporary refinement, it once again invites guests to experience the enduring allure of Montenegro’s coastline – a place where nature, culture, and quiet luxury exist in perfect balance.
