Indulge in a tropical symphony of tastes and textures at The Siam Tea Room, as talented chefs reveal a showcase of seasonal produce – including the freshest durian – with a series of special dishes that will transport diners’ taste buds on a sensory adventure to the lush fields, exotic orchards and crystal-clear seas of Eastern Thailand.

 

Covering seven stunning provinces and a long stretch of tropical coastline along the Gulf of Thailand, Eastern Thailand is a haven of natural produce. It is especially famous for its fresh fruit, including durians – the so-called ‘king of fruit’. Throughout June and July, diners can experience a vibrant fusion of flavours from this tropical region at a choice of two The Siam Tea Room restaurants in Bangkok: the authentic Thai restaurant and casual café in the heart of Sukhumvit at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, and the heritage-rich waterside dining destination at Asiatique The Riverfront.

At The Siam Tea Room, Sukhumvit 22, hotel guests and local residents can come together and savour a choice of nine enticing dishes, including young durian salad with fresh mangosteen & shrimp; grilled fishcake skewers with sweet cucumber dip; stir-fried seafood with oyster sauce, garlic, spring onion & red chilli; spicy grouper soup with salak fruit; spicy & sour chicken soup with young cardamom shoots; slow-braised beef cheek massaman curry with durian; and Chanthaburi-style pork curry with cha muang leaves. Every meal can end on a sweet note with a choice of two tempting Thai desserts with an Eastern twist: durian sticky rice with coconut ice cream, and traditional pandan custard with crunchy peanuts.

 

A further eight delectable dishes can be discovered at The Siam Tea Room at Asiatique The Riverfront. Savoury delights include herb salad with mangosteen, sea prawns, roasted nuts & fried shallots; crispy durian salad with crispy pork, dried squid, dried shrimp, mango & cashew nuts; Thai rice noodles in coconut milk with shrimp, duck egg, pineapple preserve, fish sauce, chilli & salacca; massaman curry with beef cheeks, Chanthaburi durian, roasted shallots, lotus seeds & sweet potato; and red curry with roasted duck breast & seasonal fruit. A trio of sweet treats will include sago and cantaloupe with coconut milk; durian sticky rice with coconut cream, durian ice cream & crunchy durian; and watermelon & lime sorbet with candied watermelon rind.
