Green On The Inside And Out
Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has announced the addition of 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok to its Considerate Collection, a group of luxury hotels that are green on the inside and out. This pioneering hotel joins a community of actively sustainable luxury hotels going the extra eco mile, proving that luxury is compatible with longevity.
This prestigious recognition acknowledges 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok commitment to sustainable practices and contribution to a more environmentally conscious hospitality industry. SLH has collaborated with the most respectable sustainable travel and luxury hospitality players to create a trusted and transparent framework. These include Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) – the international, independent, not-for-profit body established by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); and Weeva, the uniquely designed platform that caters specifically to small hotels and accommodation providers, enabling properties to adopt measurable and holistic sustainability practices.
All Considerate Collection hotels display strong alignment with the GSTC’s global criteria across three key pillars ensuring all the hotels are Community Minded, Cultural Custodians and Environmentally Conscious. These pillars are all underpinned by a strong sustainability management system.
137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok is dedicated to a comprehensive sustainability approach encompassing three key categories: Environmentally Responsible, Social Responsibility, and Local Procurement.
Under Environmentally Responsible initiatives, the hotel not only focuses on effective Waste Management practices and boasts a flourishing herb garden but also prioritises energy-saving initiatives. In the realm of Social Responsibility, the establishment engages in small acts of kindness, including empowering the underprivileged, and emphasises conservation, regeneration and cultural heritage. Moreover, the commitment extends to promoting sustainable tourism through locally sourced art, dining and eco-friendly experiences. In the sphere of Local Procurement, the hotel prioritises sourcing local products for in-room amenities, food and beverages, retail offerings and gifts. And we go by the saying Embracing Sustainability: Nurturing Tomorrow, Cherishing Today.
“We redefine luxury through a commitment to sustainability. From environmentally responsible practices to uplifting the underprivileged and promoting local procurement, we believe that true opulence lies in conscious choices. In every guest’s experience, we strive to blend indulgence with responsibility, shaping a sustainable future for the hospitality industry,” said Nida Wongphanlert, General Manager at 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok.
Daniel Luddington, VP of Development, Small Luxury Hotels of the World, added, “We’ve carefully curated the Considerate Collection to help customers and the travel trade make more informed and eco-conscious decisions. 137 Pillars Suites & Residences Bangkok is a standout property in this collection, demonstrating how a small luxury hotel can have a significant positive impact. Its commitment to sustainability serves as a model for other hotels in the industry, and we’re proud to showcase it as an example of excellence.”
Each hotel within the Considerate Collection either has been certified by a GSTC Accredited Certification Body or certified to a GSTC Recognised Standard or has passed an assessment by the SLH Sustainability Advisory Panel with review by the GSTC.
