Traditional Festival Mooncakes

In anticipation of the Mid-Autumn Festival – one of the most important holidays on the Chinese calendar – The Peninsula Bangkok has teamed up with acclaimed local artists to offer special, limited-edition boxes for its traditional festival mooncakes.

 

These exclusive, impeccably designed boxes, made by the artisans at Stories Ceramics and elaborately painted by artist Faan Peeti, not only make enchanting gifts to share with friends and family; they also tell the story of The Peninsula Bangkok’s unique connection to its guests and its home community.

 

 

The special mooncake boxes, limited to just 150 units, are currently available for pre-order and priced at Bt5,888 net per box (while supplies last). Profits from the sales of the boxes will go to charity.

 

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Peninsula Bangkok, Faan Peeti has created a series of captivating illustrations that adorn the limited-edition mooncake box. Together, these artworks tell a story called “Gift from the River,” which captures the resort’s kinship with and respect for its guests and surrounding community.

 

 

The limited-edition mooncake box features a beautiful riverside town on its four sides, representing the Chao Phraya River. The lid showcases a full moon and peonies, both of which symbolise prosperity and wealth. Delightfully, the painted moon also appears as a window in another illustration on the inner lid: “Moonbeam Treats,” a bakery where dedicated moon rabbits make delicious mooncakes. At the bottom of the box is yet another charming illustration, of a rabbit nestled in a peony blossom, holding a piece of mooncake. This image conveys the joy of savouring and sharing mooncakes from the Peninsula Bangkok.

 

Each of the 150 limited-edition boxes will contain its edition number, as well as a copy of the artist’s handwritten signature.

 

 

The Peninsula Bangkok’s handmade Egg Custard Mooncakes are officially available at The Peninsula Boutique starting from 3rd August to 29th September 2023.
