One Million Covid Jabs
The Thai Ministry of Public Health exceeded its target of administering one million Covid jabs on Mahidol Day, with a combined total of 1,299,307 first, second and third doses administered, according to Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Kiattibhoom Vongrachit.
The mass vaccinations were held in 12 health system regions across the country, with each being assigned to administer 100,000 doses, in remembrance of the late HRH Prince Mahidol Adulyadej, the father of the late King Ananda Mahidol and King Bhumibol Adulyadej, for his contributions to the development of medical education in Thailand.
Given the rate of vaccinations, Dr. Kiattibhoom said he is confident that, in the next three months, 20 million doses will be administered each month and Thailand will be able to achieve its target of administering 100 million inoculations this year.
Another 24 million doses of vaccines will be arriving in Thailand next month, followed by 23 million in both November and December.
Thailand has procured five makes of vaccine this year. These include 30.5 million doses of China’s Sinovac inactivated vaccine, 61 million doses of AstraZeneca viral vector vaccine, 30 million doses of the Pfizer mRNA vaccine, 11 million doses of Sinopharm inactivated vaccine from China and 5 million doses of the Moderna mRNA vaccine.
