Fine Dining Rewarded

Phuket’s ultimate Thai restaurant Takieng at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa has announced another milestone as it has been listed one of Phuket’s Top 25 Restaurants, a restaurant guide founded by Travelindex in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Travel & Tourism Foundation.

The Top 25 Restaurant Guide Phuket brings together not only gourmet dining, but the best of all cuisines, with every establishment chosen first and foremost for the quality of cooking and food served. To ensure its credibility and impartiality of its ranking, the Top 25 Restaurants Guide Phuket is based on a world-leading rating system, the Restaurant Rating Index (RRI). RRI is an artificial intelligence based, decentralised appraisal mechanism combining behavioural analytics and human expertise from some of the world’s top culinary experts.

“We’re thrilled to see that Takieng has been selected in Phuket’s Top 25 Restaurants. Our focus has always been to promote quality, yet exciting Thai and Southern-Thai food delivering authentic flavours using fresh local products as the hero of the dish,” stated by Chef A Wittaya Kraidam. “There are many great restaurants in Phuket, but for people looking for the real Thai taste, nice ambience and efficient service from friendly yet professional staff – they come to us. To be in the top 25 restaurants on the island is such a remarkable milestone for our team and we look forward to offering world-class dining experiencing to many more guests in the future.”

Meaningful, yet a straightforward name, ‘Takieng’ means ‘Lantern’ signifying the local fishermen’s daily routine of taking the long tail boat with their fishing nets and lanterns to catch fish at night to avoid the heat from the day’s sun. Takieng is located on the beachfront of Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa on the Mai Khao Beach, the long sandy beach on the northwestern side of Phuket.

Takieng offers enticing menu options that showcase the very best of Thai cuisine including local dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. Diners can experience the authentic Thai flavours and high quality locally sourced ingredients. Chef A, originally from the south of Thailand, has over 20 years of culinary experience in crafting local Thai and Phuket cuisine. His dishes are inspired by his mother’s home cooking recipes using only local ingredients. Favourites on the menu include “Pla Kapong Mieng Kham” (crispy deep-fried whole Sea Bass accompanied with Mieng Kham sauce), “Chu Chee Ped Krob” (rich red curry sauce with golden-fried locally farmed duck) and “Jakkajun Thalay Thod” (deep fried locally sourced Mole Crab served with sweet chili sauce). At Takieng restaurant, diners can enjoy an epic sunset with groves of Casuarina trees along the pristine beach while experiencing exquisite Southern Thai fares prepared by Chef A.
