Discover The Cuisine of Isaan

Embark on a Thai culinary adventure at basil with Chef Kesinee as she reveals her new regional set menus that include Isaan Explorer, an introduction to the authentic cuisine of Thailand’s northeast.


The northeast consists of 18 culturally diverse provinces collectively known locally as Isaan. Loved all over Thailand, the distinctive regional cuisine is known for its liberal use of chilies and fresh herbs.



At basil, diners can enjoy a choice of 3 or 4-course set menus of authentic local dishes. Appetizers include the renowned dish of som tam ruam gai yang – spicy green papaya salad with grilled chicken, coconut palm heart and green apple, or kor moo yang – grilled marinated pork neck with chili dip. There is also tom saeb neau – a delicious hot and sour spicy beef soup with Thai herbs and mushrooms, and three main course dishes to choose from; gaeng nor mai gai – sour bamboo red curry with chicken and sweet basil; nam tok neau – spicy beef salad with chili and shallots; and pad pak boong – stir fried morning glory. The authentic Isaan set lunch ends with a dessert of crepe bai toey – pandan flavored crepes with caramelized shredded coconut and mango ice cream.



Also, basil offers a daily changing lunchtime curry buffet that includes a choice of appetizers, a noodle bar dishes, main curries and desserts. Highlights are gaeng kiew wan neau – green curry with beef, eggplant and basil, gaeng karee moo – yellow curry with pork and potatoes, as well as sautéed mixed vegetables, and enticing desserts such as mango and sticky rice.


The Isaan Explorer set lunch menus at basil start at Bt750++ for 3 courses and Bt890++ for 4 courses, while the curry buffet is priced at Bt720++ per person and includes one cup of coffee or tea. The set lunch of regional Thai cuisine and the curry buffet is available Monday to Friday.
