Koh Samui Gets Traditional British Gastropub
Manathai Koh Samui, part of the award-winning Thai boutique group, Manathai Hotels and Resorts, is officially launching its own British-style gastropub, The Greedy Pig in time for the coming festive season.
The new outlet will offer hotel guests and drop-in customers a traditional inn atmosphere with a menu of good food including a Sunday Roast, draught beers, craft ales and world sporting events shown live on big-screen TVs with menu specials to match every occasion.
Having opened its doors ahead of its official launch, The Greedy Pig is already attracting local residents, tourists and guests at Manathai Koh Samui for its menu of tasty British fare. The all-day pub, which is opened from 11am – 11pm, serves a full English breakfast as well as British favourites like sausage rolls and scotch eggs, appetisers, salads and sharing plates, including a melting baked camembert cheese served with melba toast and main course classics like sausage and mash and shepherd’s pie, as well as popular international favourites including BBQ ribs.
Some well-known Thai dishes are featured on the blackboard of daily food and drink specials and desserts are more than an after-thought with apple and blackberry crumble amongst the sweet temptations.
Khun Chatri Rattanarangsri (Randi), Executive Assistant Manager of Sales at Manathai Koh Samui says the relaxed ambiance at The Greedy Pig appeals to everyone. “Tourists enjoying a chilled-out beach vacation love to take it easy with drinks and dining in a laid-back, friendly place. The menu has plenty of quality comfort food and offers good value so it’s perfect for families with kids, groups and solo travellers who just want to drop in. Koh Samui residents and expats already use the pub as an affordable venue and some have already become regulars.”
Reminiscent of a British gastropub in terms of design, atmosphere and menu, The Greedy Pig is a unique island venue that suits Manathai Koh Samui’s contemporary colonial style. With as choice of room and suite stays, the resort also features generous green gardens, and The Greedy Pig offers a shady watering hole with al fresco tables too.
To complement the daily menu, The Greedy Pig is fast becoming known for its classic Sunday Roast, which is served from 12-6pm, giving diners weekend flexibility. The menu includes a choice of roast chicken or a veggie roast, Australian garlic and rosemary lamb and beef, as well as salmon and a popular mixed plate. The tasty mains come with all the trimmings, including a huge Yorkshire pudding and bacon-wrapped ‘pigs-in-blankets’ chipolatas.
To celebrate The Greedy Pig’s official launch, Manathai Koh Samui is offering 30% discount on flexible rates with breakfast when booking direct. Guests can also enjoy special rates when they reserve a room 60 days in advance with a free one glass per person of draft beer in The Greedy Pig.
